Special for the Arts & Humanities Weekend
Thursday evening jam session.
Over the years, music has greeted the Thursday evening visitor as local musicians circle up for a jam session that has not missed a Thursday in 30 years. A typical Thursday will have 10-15 musicians playing fiddles, Celtic harp, dulcimers, flutes, and any other instrument that shows up to share the spirit of music and friendship. The tunes and songs are from many eras from 17th century Scotch/Irish to early American to civil war era to old time and traditional. There are many contemporary tunes written by the musicians themselves. Sing-a-longs happen spontaneously. The session starts about 7:30pm and doesn’t stop until 10:30 or maybe 11:00. Standing room only is not unusual so come early if you want a seat.
